About Graveney Equine

Graveney Equine is a natural livery yard designed with the main focus being the well-being of horses in our care and showcasing our system for others to learn about it.

Breaking away from the traditional livery model we keep horses on an innovative track system. We believe in creating an environment that allows horses to live in a way that suits their ethological (evolved) needs as naturally as possible. We base our ethos around ‘Friends, Forage and Freedom’ to support both physical and mental health.

We specialise in the care of those dealing with metabolic illness, musculo-skeletal disorders, obesity, behavioural issues, laminitis and hoof disorders but more and more we are welcoming horses whose owners simply want them to live a full life in an equine-centered world.

Our approach prioritizes species-appropriate care with track systems, herd living, and a management style that respects the horse’s natural instincts. At Graveney Equine, we foster a relaxed and supportive community where owners can enjoy their horses in a way that aligns with their natural needs. Whether you’re looking for a more holistic way to keep your horse or want to step away from conventional livery setups, we offer a unique alternative, focused on welfare, balance, and harmony. The yard itself is a tranquil and peaceful place to be with the focus on building a relationship with your horse and becoming part of their world.

Run by Lauren, who is passionate that horses deserve to spend their lives living, not just existing, and her dedicated team, Graveney Equine is a project born out of a deep desire to leave the horse world a better place.

This is a lifestyle – not just a livery

Livery Testimonials

Midnight’s Owners

Graveney Equine is one of the best places for horses and their humans. Our rescue horse was not coping in a traditional yard and he was vocal about his annoyance. He calmed from the moment we unloaded him and spent three years loving life before he crossed over rainbow bridge.

Every horse I have seen there is happy and relaxed. They play, they exercise they forage naturally and rest together. If your horse were to choose paradise, this would be it.

Appollo’s Owner

I had been looking for a track livery for Appollo and was so lucky to find Graveney Equine and Lauren. Because in his last livery, Appollo was getting abscesses constantly from being on rich grass.

Everything at Graveney was designed for the horses needs, freedom, friends and forage was exactly what I wanted for Appollo.

I loved that it was constantly being developed and had plenty of enrichments. Lauren has a huge amount of knowledge and I knew that Appollo was in good hands. It was amazing to watch my fat, ‘lazy’ horse who was constantly in your space to a horse moving and interacting with the herd.

I loved spending time there, it was always so calming watching the horses and I could have spent hours seeing them interact together.

Magic’s Owner

I am truly thankful I found Graveney Equine when I did for my Shetland pony, Marge. Lauren took unbelievable care of Marge and treated her as if she was her own. Marge was a complex case with long term health issues and it took everything for me to even consider moving her again to somewhere that wasn’t local to me, however upon meeting Lauren, viewing the track and seeing how content the horses were. I knew it was the right decision.

Marge spent three and a half happy years on the track where she thrived. I trusted Lauren’s knowledge, care and advice completely and I just wish I had found her sooner.

I will be forever grateful that Marge had the opportunity to be a horse in a relaxed and happy herd where she had incredible friendships and for the thoughtful and compassionate care she received from Lauren and for the support Lauren gave me whilst making incredibly difficult decisions.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Graveney Equine to anyone, they truly went above and beyond for me and most importantly Marge.

Velvet’s Owner

My horse, Velvet, has been in Lauren’s care for six years and will be for the rest of her life.

When we first arrived at Graveney, Velvet was struggling with lameness following a keratoma removal. We had tried box rest, glue-on shoes and boots, but nothing helped for long, and we were running out of options that would give her a good quality of life.

Six years later, Velvet is sound and living her best life on the track with her friends, and I never have to worry about her being in the very best of hands.

It’s not an overstatement to say that I don’t think Velvet would still be with us if she hadn’t joined the Graveney herd. I’m incredibly grateful to Lauren for everything she has done for us.

Blue’s Owner

Moving my two boys to Graveney Equine is the best decision I have ever made. Having been following the yard on social media for a few years, moving my horses to Lauren’s has been a genuine dream come true. It is so rare to find someone who wholly prioritises horses and their welfare, and Lauren has been so genuine and unwaveringly supportive like it’s second nature to her.

The track system has been so thoughtfully designed and continually modified to provide a happy and safe space for the horses to just be horses. Moving to a big herd was always the goal, for me, and the herd at Graveney took my two youngsters in without any issues. They made friends and grew and explored and live the life I wanted for them.

My Welshie, Blueberry Pie, can be an excitable youngster and loves to play, and Graveney Equine have never ever made me feel like that was an issue on mine or Blue’s part. They encourage him to be himself and he is absolutely thriving. I couldn’t ask for a more supportive community.

Julie’s Owner

Graveney equine has to be one of my favourite places and the most wonderful place for my pony Julie to live. Her physical wellbeing is closely monitored and Lauren and the team are proactive in providing every kind of support Julie could need.

The whole team have taken the time to get to know Julie – her personality, preferences and what she can be unsure of as well as her background and health challenges. A thoughtful and unhurried introduction into herd and track life focused on Julie’s comfort and building her confidence which enabled her to mix happily amongst the herd. It has brought me so much joy to see Julie bond with other horses and be free to just be a horse. I have spent many hours sitting and watching the herd interact and go about their day. The horses have choice over every aspect of their lives and there is an abundance of enrichment for them.

Lauren and the whole team go above and beyond to ensure Julie’s well-being. Lauren’s expertise and knowledge around horse care, nutrition and species-appropriate living is vast and she shares this willingly and I have learnt so much from her. The contentment and thriving nature of the entire herd is a testament to the love, hard work, dedication and expertise that is poured into Graveney track livery and any horse lucky enough to be in their care will get to live in what I consider a horse haven.

Mutley’s Owner

There is nowhere like Graveney for a horse to live a life of choice, self expression and well-being.

Lauren is incredibly knowledgeable and horse centered. Moving my bereaved and chronically laminitic Shetland pony into her care three years ago literally put him back on his hooves, saved his life and put the joy back into mine.
