Are There Challenges Associated With Setting Up A Track System?

There are numerous benefits to implementing a track system but there are also potential barriers.

Initial setup costs: Establishing the track, installing fencing, adding surfaces and enrichment features can require a significant initial investment.

Maintenance: Regular upkeep is necessary to manage wear and tear, especially in high-traffic areas, and to ensure the track remains safe and functional.

Space limitations: Smaller properties may face design constraints, requiring creative solutions to maximise available space.

Dealing with behavioural issues: Although tracks are predominantly beneficial for overcoming behavioural issues, there is nearly always an interim period where behaviours such as overt dominance and aggression can still persist. This will require careful design to ensure all horses can move freely and safely.

Implementing a horse track or Paddock Paradise system requires thoughtful planning and consideration of individual horse needs. However, the potential benefits to equine health and well-being make it a worthwhile endeavour for many horse owners.
